Happy Holidays!

Just wanted to take a second and wish everyone a belated Merry Christmas and an early Happy New Year! I'm looking forward to 2011, it will be nice to put some of the not so pleasant things of 2010 behind us.

Apologies to those who may have read my blog the past week, and ended up with blurred eyesight--that background was dreadful!!! All better now :)

Little Boots

Aren't these little boots cute????

Laney doesn't think so. The last two winters have been a struggle getting her to go outside to potty when it's really cold, her paws get cold and she gives up and just sits. I decided that maybe some doggie boots would help, so a couple of months ago when we were at the pet store, I picked up a set of four of these. I had wanted to put them on her a couple of times so she could get used to them, but winter came along way too quick, and we didn't have much of a chance. This morning I thought I would at least put the front two on her and see how she did.

I wish I would have had my video camera ready, I wasn't prepared for how funny it was going to be. The $20 we paid for the boots was worth the entertainment. She looked like a Lippizan stallion, prancing around with them on, and you could tell she wasn't happy. Good thing I didn't put all four on! Lee finally took her outside and when he wasn't paying attention, she managed to get one of them off and buried it in the snow. I guess her thinking was that we wouldn't find it until the spring thaw after dad had run it over with the lawn mower, and then, too late, so sad. Lee discoverd it and dug it out, we set it in front of a heater vent to dry and she tried to steal it and run off to her crate with it. They are now sitting on my craft desk! She definitely provided both of us with a good laugh this morning if nothing else.

Here is a picture I took of her last week, watching the snow and her "Uncle Mike" across the street snow blowing his driveway. So much for this snow "bunny"!

Hey--still here!

I bet all of you who read this thought maybe I'd abandoned this venture. No--just sidetracked a bit. To say that 2010 was a challenging year would be putting it mildly. Just after the last post I had a slight mishap which resulted in reinjuring my knee. Turns out it's a bad case of arthritis, but I spent several months in a lot of pain from it and still having problems. Shortly after my diagnosis we found out that Lee's mom had terminal cancer and we lost her in March. To make matters even worse, my mom passed away very suddenly in June. And in the midst of all of this we made the decision to buy a different house and move. I get tired (and slightly depressed) just thinking about it all. But we are hanging in there.

Today I am home from work sick, and decided since I didn't feel well enought to do much else, I really should come and post SOMETHING, anything, just to get the juices flowing again. Funny how things work out. My drive to work is quite a bit longer now, but not terrible. However it does take me on a very nasty stretch of interstate for 2/3 of the drive. A little while ago the phone rang, it was my best friend Susan who also drives it. When I answered, she was frantic--"are you alright?!?" I'm thinking "good grief, it's just a bit of food illness", but then I found out what she meant. She gets 511 updates from the DOT and when she got to work she got one that said there had been a bad accident past where she gets off and that it would have been right about the time I would have been going through. I could hear the relief in her voice when I told her that I hadn't gone in. One of those times when having a sensitive tummy is a good thing!

So, what else to post about? We are all moved in to the new house and getting our old one ready to put on the market after the new year. Real estate here isn't moving quickly but it isn't dead either, so hoping for a spring sale :) It will be very weird as that was my childhood home and we lived there as a married couple for over 20 years, but we are loving where we are now and very happy with our decision. I guess it was just time. Laney is doing well and also likes her new neighborhood, especially her "Uncle Mike" across the street.

Hmmmmm..............since I'm home I did get to see the Golden Globe nominations and was excited to see that James Franco was nominated. What--you don't know who he is? He's a very talented actor who I first discovered on the tv show "Freaks and Geeks", a short lived series that was so underrated and just full of talent--Linda Cardellini, Busy Phillips, Jason Segel, and several other actors and actresses who have gone on to bigger and better things. If you haven't had a chance to see it, you can rent it on Netflix and you won't be sorry! Especially if you were a pre-teen or teen in the 1980's, I love watching it and comparing the characters to my friends and classmates. And I'm thrilled to see another actor from it getting the recognition they deserve.

I promise to do better on keeping up the blog in 2011. Hoping to venture in to some new territories in the new year, and have an entire collection of Barbie dolls to sell (my mothers) so I will share my Ebay adventures! And of course, more pictures of Laney :)
